Apparently every year Belgian students take a trip to Italy, and there were scads of them all over the place this past week.  As I was visiting the ruins of Old Ostia, the ancient Roman seaport, I found myself surrounded by red scarf wearing Belgian kids.  One group decided to sing their school song, which somehow got lodged in my head.  I took out my ipod to replace it with something else, and the most appropriate song came up.<\/p>\n<p>The Shins &#8211; Young Pilgrims<\/p>\n<p>&#8230;I watch the ice melt on the glass<br \/>\nWhile the eloquent young pilgrims pass<br \/>\nAnd leave behind their trail<br \/>\nImploring us not to fail&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/dagfooyo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/04\/young-pilgrims.jpg\" size-full wp-image-340\" \/><\/p>\n<p>There was a lot of odd energy at this place.  In one corner of the ruins (which were quite extensive, basically the whole city was intact)  I found a small shack up on a hill.  On top was a raven.  As I approached, the raven launched itself from the shack and flew past.
