Tate Modern, London

Today I finally made it into London proper, saw the Thames and went to Tate Modern to check out some art.
Of the ones I saw, I particularly liked these pieces (among many wonderful ones):
David Salle – My Subjectivity (1981)
It’s hard to tell from this picture, but the panel on the left is sculptural, it sticks out a couple inches and the black circles are holes to the canvas, allowing some interesting shadows to develop. I’m not sure what it was I liked so much about this one but it struck me.
Francis Bacon – Seated Figure (1961)
I love the anatomical distortion of this one. Something I’ve tried from time to time to capture in my own work, though not usually as successfully as here.
Dali – Cannibalism in Autumn (1937)
And, a pleasant surprise, my favorite Dali Painting of all, which I’d never seen before in person.
